HELP ME!!!
So with me not working we are out 1/2 of our income. That means I get to be creative with what we have. No problem really, well except for groceries. I have no clue what to do. I know that people shop the ads, clip coupons, and go to different stores, but what are they looking for when they shop the ads, clip coupons and what do they buy at different stores? Do you create your menu plan from the ads and coupons or do you create your menu plan and then find deals from there? I'm so lost in this territory and could use some tips from all y'all!!

Celeste, Allison is the pro at this, but I am having to adjust due to less real estate and disc jockey income, so I am trying to learn, even in my old age. I shop the ads and then make my menu according to them, especially when it comes to fresh veggies. I also buy a couple of extra things when on sale so I can make most of that meal again. Allison could tell you sooooo much more than I can, though. She is super at this!!
When you find the secret let me know!! Actually I have found that if I cook more in bulk and freeze left overs it really makes a difference. I have a book of frozen recipes that I use. Premade meals....talked to you about it before...now that we are both home maybe we should actually try it one month and see if it saves us overall.
I make a shopping list and menu according to what's on sale that week, and I shop at several stores. I get all of our produce from whole foods stores (like Sprouts or Sunflower Market... not sure if they are in Utah?), and it saves us a bunch. When I write out the grocery list, I do it by section (produce, bakery, etc.) in the order I go there in the store, so it eliminates as much "wandering" as possible and impulse buying. We try to have at least 3 meatless meals a week, because meat is expensive. I have heard good things about The Grocery Game website (http://www.thegrocerygame.com/), but haven't tried them, but the whole idea looks really cool. Food is ridiculous... good luck!
Hey, just get on pinchingyourpennies.com they have all the deals for the grocery stores in your area. Also, I know this might sound REALLY cheap, but you can always try variations on romen noodles. Scott likes them with hot sauce and things. That's a last resort (or Scott's cooking....)
